The Wind Turbine Condition Monitoring Intern will play a vital role in supporting the Condition Monitoring & Analytics team at RWE Clean Energy. The team's primary focus is on utilizing various data sources to identify turbines with components in early stages of failure. They work closely with site operations teams to address failures promptly, with the ultimate goal of minimizing repair costs and reducing asset downtime. Additionally, the team collaborates with other engineering functions to address reliability issues effectively. The CMS (Condition Monitoring Systems) Intern will assist the overall team with various projects and tasks to achieve the team's objectives. By the end of the program, the intern will have introductory knowledge in overall Wind Turbine design and operation, analysis of vibration, SCADA, and other Wind Turbine data to predict degradation of major components and performing Root Cause Analyses.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly reviewing vibration data to identify failures of components and sensors
- Managing work tickets and prioritizing tasks efficiently
- Conducting ad-hoc exploratory and investigative data collection for Root Cause Analyses
- Gathering data for Key Performance Indicators to monitor and enhance turbine performance
- Assisting in the development of Analysis Tools to streamline monitoring processes
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an accredited US university program, pursuing a degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with various project teams
- Fluent in written and spoken English
This is a full-time 12-week summer internship starting at the end of May in our Austin, TX office.
