About us

The Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa ReStore sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, and housewares, much of which is donated by members of the community. All profits support Habitat Tuscaloosa new home construction and home repair programs.

Job Title: ReStore Associate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of retail operations
  • Ability to follow best practice and procedures in a retail environment
  • Experience working in a retail building supply environment preferred
  • Financial, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Knowledge of marketing channels
  • Comfortable in a sales environment
  • Ability to use current computer applications and retail technologies
  • Work in a team

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execution of the store model as directed by the ReStore Manager
  • Delegation of appropriate tasks to ReStore volunteers
  • Completion of daily checklists
  • Ensure that all volunteers work safely
  • Lead and work with volunteers to achieve necessary tasks and provide positive communication
  • Keep the store floor and storage facilities in an orderly manner, ensuring maximum sales potential
  • Cashier with the ability to accurately handle money
  • Load and unload donated product
  • Assist store customers
  • Process donated inventory
  • Execute policies and procedures
  • Ability to drive box truck and / or forklift preferred
  • Other projects as requested by ReStore Manager

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in retail or construction environment
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and work in an environment subject to heat, cold and dust.

Compensation/Hours/Benefits:

Flexible hours Monday through Saturday. No Sundays.

Hourly pay and benefits commensurate with education, experience, and abilities. Position requires working on Saturdays.
