The implementation of courses/classes and availability of positions is dependent on various factors, including student enrollment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid NYS Certification - Reading K-12 or Literacy B-6
Trained Reading Recovery teacher
Evidence of successful teaching of reading
Evidence of good interpersonal skills with students
Ability to motivate and engage students in reading activities
Understanding of the New York State Learning Standards
Belief that all students' learning can be accelerated
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide continued Reading Recovery services to 5 identified students during the Elementary Summer School Program. Collaborate with second round Reading Recovery teachers and Director of ELA to select students for summer Reading Recovery services.
Keep complete records on each child as a basis for instruction (observation survey and summary, predictions of progress, lesson records, running records, record of writing vocabulary, record of book level).
Demonstrate effective teaching of Reading Recovery students.
Submit data to WITS, teacher leader, and Director of ELA as required.
Consult with the Director of ELA about children not making satisfactory progress and other program implementation components.
