SalaryBoston Soap Co. is hiring Summer Market Staff! Summer Market Staff work at 1-3 outdoor markets per week during market season (May-October) on Saturdays and Sundays. Summer Market Staff represent Boston Soap Co. at the outdoor artisan markets in Boston, selling a variety of handcrafted soap, soy wax candles, and skin care products. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ability to perform all aspects of a market shift, including market setup, customer interface, order processing, and market breakdown
- Be able to lift at least 50 pounds (Tent weights are 40 pounds each)
- Set up an Ez Up Tent and market display
- Make transactions using Square (Point of Sale App)
- Be knowledgeable of our products so they can assist customers
- Show up on time and not be on your cell phone all day
Working at an outdoor market is a fun and low stress level job. Your day will start with setting up the pop up tent (EZ Up) and setting up the display which will consist of some tables/shelves. Setting up the product (soap, candles, skin products) on the display. You will be interacting with people all day trying to sell product. You will then make sales using either cash or Square app for credit card sales and Apple Pay. Wrap up and bag customers soap and candles toss a business card in there happily send them on their way. At the end of the day you will break down the tent and display and that's your day! Hours are around 9ish am to 6ish pm depending on location. We will be on the Greenway near the Boston Aquarium (Greenway Artisan Market) and in the Seaport off Seaport Boulevard (Seaport Summer Market).
