Summer Legal Intern 2024

WCF Insurance is an innovative property and casualty insurance provider with a range of products and services. While we are headquartered in Utah, we have grown to multiple states and have potential future openings in California, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Nevada.

Position

This position is a temporary position for summer 2024. The candidate provides support to attorneys and employees in the legal department. The intern gathers information, conducts research, prepares legal documents, and performs other responsibilities to support the department. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), temporary position that works from WCF's Sandy, Utah headquarters (flexibility based on the department.)

Responsibilities

• Provides entry- or intermediate-level legal services as appropriate.
• Works with each of the legal functions to learn best practices within the insurance industry and receives guidance, training, and mentoring from legal professionals in delivering assignments.
• Researches legal issues, state insurance laws and regulations, and drafts advisory memoranda and informal legal opinions based on findings.
• Interacts with colleagues, interns, and other internal or external customers to plan assignments and resolve day-to-day operational problems.
• Assists in gathering legal documents as requested.

Qualifications

The most qualified candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
• Completed at least one year at an ABA-accredited law school.
• Knowledge of Utah Rules of Civil Procedure, tort liability, and legal research
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and professionalism.
• Ability to handle confidential matters appropriately.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with emphasis on technical writing.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills.

The pay for this position is $25.00 per hour.
