Over the course of your 10-12 week internship, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Partner with existing production engineering teams to support the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations in San Antonio, TX
  • Students will work with experienced engineers on project types that include Repair Industrialization, Tools and Fixture Design and Manufacture, and Process Improvement

The RB211 Process Engineer supports StandardAero maintain, repair and overhaul the Rolls-Royce RB211 engines as a 145 Repair Station. As a Process Engineer, you will focus on supporting the shop repair implementation, expanding shop repair capabilities and implement new processes for the shop to execute, while ensuring compliance to relevant airworthiness and contractual requirements.
The responsibilities of the role include:
  • Develop and implement minor repairs under Design Approval Organization (DAO) sanction; refines existing repair schemes to eliminate the frequent need for in-process rejects and MRBs.
  • Own, generate, maintain, and update Reworks Process Instruction (RPIs), temporary overhaul data revisions (TODRs), matrix codes, etc. related to repair
  • Review all scrap parts routinely with the intent to applying book repairs, logging scrap rates and costs, and accumulating stock as future-repairable.
  • Implement new repairs/processes on scheduled due dates to accomplish production.
  • Provides technical support during the implementation of new processes; specifies tools and test equipment required; assists in training on the overhaul and test methods.
  • Comply with company instructions and the Design Approval Organization, executes MRB documentation and NCTs, TODRs and temporary parts list revisions (TPLRs).
  • Implement new repairs/processes on scheduled due dates to accomplish production objectives using project management tools.
  • Responsible for development of cost benefit analysis on all repair projects managed; provides cost and schedule estimates for proposed work packages.
  • Support acquisition of equipment as required to meet implementation objectives.
  • Write technical reports and proposals; develops work instructions.
  • Originate, revise & interpret technical drawings.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements
  • Good understanding of manufacturing methods, shop equipment and machining processes.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of failure modes and effects analysis.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engine and/or accessory theory and performance analysis.
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of company instruction, company process, unit build standard, temporary overhaul data revision and original equipment manufacturing manuals.
  • Ability to comprehend federal regulations and how those apply within company policies.
  • Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.

Education Requirements:
A minimum of 60 credit hours or two years within an ABET-accredited towards a Bachelors in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Metallurgical Engineering required
