Summer Internship: Create a best-in-class Summer Internship that includes a well-rounded view of the retail/wholesale industry, an immersive understanding of the culture at Steve Madden, and real-world experience of what a full-time role looks like.
Please note the following:
- 8 week Program running from June 11th - August 6th. Interns must be present for all 8 weeks in office.
- This is a paid internship. Compensation is $16 per hour
- Interns are responsible for all arrangements of housing and travel
Major Responsibilities:
- Working alongside our in-house attorneys who specialize in intellectual property, contract, and privacy law.
- Participate in legal research on current and emerging issues in intellectual property law, with a particular focus on fashion law and related sectors.
- Review, analyze, and summarize terms and conditions of various contracts
- Attend and actively participate in meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of in-house legal operations and the role of legal counsel in a corporate setting.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards learning and professional development, seeking out opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in areas of law that are critical to the company's business.

- Must be a current JD-seeking student, preferably in their 2L or 3L year.
- Under limited supervision, anticipates and solves problems for self
- Under general direction, examines moderately complex information and/or situations and prepares summary, including recommendations for review by others.
- Work responsibilities frequently concern confidential and/or sensitive information requiring the use of discretion
- Teamwork and cooperation are essential to the successful completion of own and other’s job duties.
- Ability to understand and follow somewhat complex verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with others.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office +, especially Word and Excel.
- Detail oriented with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
