Our Internship Program: Our 2024 Summer Internship Program is a paid 12-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 3, 2024. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer.

Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC's many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program.

Our Summer 2024 Internship Program application deadline is Friday, January 26. All materials must be submitted by EOD that date – incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Department Overview: The Finance Department is committed to giving EDC and affiliates excellent financial support needed to deliver on its impactful projects and programs. The Finance Department is the team that leads the larger Finance Division. It includes leadership from the Accounting, Budget, Grants, Management, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Risk Management & Insurance departments. This exciting internship opportunity will provide a fantastic experience to learn more about the FP&A and Risk Management & Insurance functions.

  • The Financial Planning & Analysis team supports effective and strategic decision making with financial modeling and scenario analysis. FP&A also directs the budgeting for all internally funded operations and projects.
  • The Risk Management & Insuranceteam develops and maintains the corporate insurance program to support all EDC activities and operations. RM&I is a resource for EDC staff in contractual risk transfer measures, proactive risk management, and claims handling.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Support with Finance Dashboard (FP&A)
  • Monitor the monthly claims dashboard/report for claims activity (including auto accidents/incidents) using tools such as Power BI to identify trends and research root causes
  • Assist with managing outstanding reserve report
  • Assist in the maintenance of all invoice and expense tracking files
  • Coordinate and participate in property risk engineering and loss prevention site visits to various EDC assets; review property risk assessment reports and work with Asset Management/Property Operations teams to track recommendations for status updates and completion
  • Track and update insurance premiums from all corporate insurance renewals
  • Assist with the review of COI requests to ensure compliance with governing contracts
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Business or Finance major; Preferred programs include Risk Management, Business Management, and Accounting
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Proven ability in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Proactive and able to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to work full-time and complete the entirety of the 12-week program

Salary Target: $18.50/hour (undergraduate-level students); $23.50/hour (graduate-level students)

Salary Range
$18.50—$23.50 USD
