The Aviation Department is looking for a Finance intern on their Capital Programs team!

The Capital Programs unit is working toward securing federal funding and providing the agency with Financial Capacity to support and sustain Port Authority airports.
Responsibilities:
- Assist program manager in coordinating Aviation's Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) program, including tracking, reporting, and compliance
- Work with Aviation project managers to administer COVID Relief grants, which includes assisting in the preparation of all appropriate reimbursement documentation and ensuring all grants requirements and deadlines are achieved
- Continually record, review, and track reimbursement activity and work with awarding agencies to resolve unpaid reimbursement requests or other discrepancies
- Calculate reimbursement requests and invoice amounts
- Work with project managers to ensure allocated activity is accurate and allowable for reimbursement under agreement terms
- Ensure timely and accurate recurring billing and invoicing in accordance with agreement requirements
- Assist in data input and reporting in grant management system (QuickBase)
- Work with project managers to support other grant programs, including programs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
- Support and prepare presentations for senior executive management
- Interface with various levels of staff from facility staff to senior authority management in several departments
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
- Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
- Interest in public service and/or transportation
- Willingness to learn
Desired:
- Strong financial background
- Strong in using Advanced Excel Program
- Strong research, analysis, and writing skills
Internship Details:
- The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
- The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
- This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
- The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
- The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
