Job Description

SUMMARY

ITW/Hobart Service is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Summer Cybersecurity Intern to join our cybersecurity team. This internship program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of cybersecurity, learn from industry experts, and contribute to meaningful projects that will enhance your skills and knowledge.

Duration of Internship: 13-15 weeks, [May 13, 2024] - [August 12, 2024] Depending on School Schedule

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Security Monitoring: Assist in monitoring the company's network and systems for security incidents. Learn to identify and respond to security alerts and anomalies.
  2. Vulnerability Assessment: Participate in vulnerability assessments and scanning activities to identify potential weaknesses in systems and applications.
  3. Security Awareness: Help in promoting cybersecurity awareness across the organization by creating and delivering training materials, workshops, or presentations.
  4. Incident Response: Assist in incident response activities, including documenting incidents, analyzing root causes, and proposing mitigation strategies.
  5. Policy and Compliance: Contribute to the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
  6. Research and Analysis: Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats and trends by conducting research and analysis. Prepare reports and summaries for the cybersecurity team.
  7. Tool Familiarization: Gain proficiency in using various cybersecurity tools and software, such as intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanners.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of cybersecurity processes, procedures, and incident reports.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the cybersecurity team and IT departments to implement security best practices.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related Information Technology field.
  • Strong passion for cybersecurity and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
  • Knowledge of basic cybersecurity principles and concepts.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
