The Summer Cook position is responsible to prepare meals, serve, and clean up after all meals. With the arrival of our summer camp and summer school, the Cook will be serving a large community of children and staff over the summer.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Kitchen Workers in preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for residents and staff on the weekends and assist the Supervisor in weekday meal preparations.
- Unload bi-weekly food order, bring in deliveries and rotate stock.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of kitchen and food storage areas.
- Assist with inventory.
- Assist in recording number of meals served and number of people that eat at each meal.
- Meet with the Director of Food Services and Kitchen Supervisor and Cook on weekly basis.
- Set tables and get dining area ready for meal service.
- Assist in preparing hot meals, sales and cold foods. Portion desserts and salads.
- Operate dishwasher, wash pots and pans, and clean other kitchen utilities, daily.
- Use equipment with proper regard to safety and in accordance with good sanitary practices, such as: pulling plug before cleaning slicer; using correct amount of detergent.
- Assist in preparing and packing outgoing food orders such as picnic lunches and afternoon snacks.
- Clean dining area and kitchen after each meal, including sweeping and mopping floors.
High School Diploma (or equivalent); culinary education and experience. Knowledge of food preparation techniques, nutritional requirements and Board of Health Safety Regulations. Food service experience in a residential setting, a plus.
Rate of pay is $20.00-$21.00 per hour. This is a temporary position and is not benefit eligible.
