CDS is located on a beautiful, secluded half-acre in the Mission near Dolores Park. Our after care program employs the use of indoor classrooms, environmental ed. kitchen, wood chips area and climbing structure, farm and garden (featuring eleven chickens and two sheep), and a play yard among the largest of independent schools in the city.
The Role
CDS seeks a dynamic Kindergarten Kickstart Teacher for the summer program. Reporting to the ECP Camp Coordinator, this position is responsible for supporting engaging camp activities for students entering Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten.- Employment dates will be roughly 6/26 - 8/11, with 7 weeks of full-time camp sessions, plus dates for training before camp begins and clean up after camp ends
- Camp hours are 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
- High school diploma required.
- College-level coursework in education is preferred.
- Have experience teaching or leading youth activities and excellent classroom management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as a great sense of humor.
- Demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.
- Keep classroom, storage areas, bathrooms, and outside areas neat and orderly.
- Work effectively with children, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds and family structures.
- Display a passion for learning and a commitment to personal-professional growth.
- Possess dynamic problem-solving and communication skills.
- Be proficient in technology: email, word processing, photos, etc.
