Job Description
As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and enriching experience for campers while fostering a sense of community and identity. You will be responsible for supervising and engaging campers in a variety of activities, providing guidance, and ensuring their safety and well-being. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the safety of a group of campers, creating a positive and inclusive environment.
- Plan, organize, and lead various camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, nature exploration, and cultural programs.
- Foster a sense of community and identity through programming, storytelling, and sharing traditions.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to campers, helping them navigate challenges and build positive relationships.
- Encourage campers to participate in camp traditions, rituals, and values that reflect culture and heritage.
- Assist with camper health and well-being, including mealtime supervision, hygiene routines, and administering basic first aid when needed.
- Work collaboratively with other camp staff to coordinate and execute camp-wide events.
- Communicate regularly with camp leadership, reporting any concerns, incidents, or issues that arise.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and a commitment to the camp's values and principles.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework or degree preferred).
- Previous camp counseling or childcare experience is a plus.
- Enthusiasm for working with children and creating a positive and inclusive camp environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A positive attitude and a passion for creating memorable camp experiences.
