DATES: June 10,2024-June 28, 2024 and July 8,2024-August 9, 2024 Monday-Friday 9:15am-4:45pm (Mondays start at 9am).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and able to transport campers. Must have reliable transportation.
- Complete CPR, First Aid, brain injury training and mandatory reporting within set deadline. Attend mandatory camp training.
- Must be comfortable in and around swimming pools.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Camp Counselor is responsible to provide a fun camp experience for the children while ensuring their safety. Camp Counselors will implement outlined daily activities and achieve program goals.
SCOPE OF THE POSITION: This hourly, non-exempt position is responsible for providing daily supervision and care of campers, while ensuring an enjoyable camp experience and quality service provision through the following areas:
- Must ensure all actions assure the well-being of campers by providing oversight, direct supervision and care.
- Maintain camper privacy and protect the agency by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain camper health status by safely and thoroughly carrying out health procedures such as tube feedings, toileting, seizure, first aid, medication dispensation, etc.
- Respond calmly to health and emergency situations and report to the family and Center Director.
- Ensure camper & family satisfaction by engaging the camper in activities of interest, proving positive reinforcement, role modeling age appropriate & positive behavior, exercising sound decision making skills, and creating a positive environment.
- Advocate for the rights of all campers by reporting any incident or signs of abuse and/or neglect per procedure.
- Provide updated information to supervisor in regard to camper needs, issues, or changes.
- Complete daily documentation in compliance with Medicaid guidelines.
- Remain flexible to ongoing schedule changes during work week as needed to meet the needs of The Arc and of those we serve.
- All duties as assigned by the Group Facilitator, Group Services Coordinator, Camp Supervisor, Program Directors and Executive Director.
EMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT UPON: criminal history checks, child and dependent adult abuse clearance and a professional reference.
