Camp High Rocks, a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has a director opening for it’s summer ceramics program. The director should have experience working with clay including: kiln firing (electric), hand building, wheels, and glazing. The job places an emphasis on organization, creativity, flexibility, and imagination.
Responsibilities: Instruct ceramic skills with organized classes or through one-on-one help. Create or implement lesson plans. Care for the studio space. Lead/support a small staff of counselor instructors. Assist campers in creating projects to develop skills, creativity, and just to enjoy!
Qualifications: At least 19 years of age or rising college sophomore, with a strong interest in working with children. Preference given to those with prior instructional experience in a ceramics program or experience running a studio.
Benefits: From $500 to $600 per week for the nine week season, depending on experience and qualifications. Training, room, board and laundry are included. Certification courses available in late May.
