Under the direction of theAthletics Director and/or AGM of Fitness, theBasketball Instructoris responsibleforproviding recreational experiences that enhanceourathletic programming.Thisindividual ensuresthe delivery of professional, high-qualityprograms to our membership while always exceeding expectations. Thisposition will require an extensive knowledge ofrecreational basketball,age-appropriateinstruction,and effective group control,as well as a talent for engaging studentsin activities that support their overall physical and mental health.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Facilitate Youth Basketball Programs
  • Create engaging and developmentally appropriateactivitiesfora variety ofagegroups

  • Provide support to ensureeveryparticipantis engaged and successful
  • Extensive knowledge of age-appropriate sports coachingand instructional techniques
  • Be flexible and forward-thinking, always have a backup plan and be ready to execute

Contribute toanEngagingTeamExperience
  • Understand and livethe Bay Club Actions We Live By
  • Be open to performance feedback
  • Work closely with team members to createa cohesiveteam environment, promoting teamwork and high staff morale
  • Support other team members when critical needs arise, if needed
  • Execute any additional duties as assigned by theGeneral Manager orDirector of Family Programmingand/or Leadership staff

Foster a Safe and Productive Environment
  • Practice excellentgroupcontroland effective communicationto ensureparticipants learn skills correctlyand prevent injury

  • Engagein and modelpositive adult-child interactions betweenassociatesand children

Communication Relationships
  • Effectively and professionally interacts and communicates with senior management, managers, other Associates, vendors, members, staff, and guests.

  • Promote harmonious relations among members, staff, vendors, and the community at-large.
  • Communicatein a timely mannerand follow up, as appropriate.
  • Active participation in required events, required programs, requiredmeetingsand required trainings.
  • Ensure the TBCC mission and club brand is upheld in all aspects ofprogramoperations
  • Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response

Corporate Goals Objectives
  • Promote the company's safety goals and actively work towards ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Actively further Club objectives and continuously support improvement and positive change, which includes participating on corporate designated committees to improve the company and business operations.

Qualifications

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE
  • Minimum of one year of basketball coaching experience
  • Experienceworking with children in an educationalor recreationalsettingpreferred
  • Ability to create and implement innovativeyouth sport or fitnessprogramlesson plans
  • Passionforyouthdevelopmentandexperience working with youth between 5-18 yrs.
  • Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service attitude and abilities
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and willing to acquire new skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Computer literate
  • CPR certification required

WORKING CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts required
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required
  • Position requires daily public contact

  • Specific vision abilities required, but not limited toclose vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • This position deals with outside personnel such as members and clients on a regular basis with contact in various forms such as in person, phone and email.
  • The location of the position changes frequently from indoors to outdoors as property extends to both environments. However, extreme environmental conditions do not exist.
  • It is sometimes necessary to problem solve in difficult situations.
  • It is necessary to adapt to a frequently changing environment.
  • Sitting and standing is as needed.
  • Requires occasional physical exertion such as bending, twisting, sitting, stooping, and use of hands and fingers.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel;and reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and occasionallystoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Must occasionally sit for extended periods and regularly walk around the facility
  • Must occasionally talk and hear

  • Occasional lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate safe exercise and perform equipment techniques.
  • Must have the ability to perform CPR and administer first aid as needed.

  • It is necessary for the position to travel independently to property locations on a minimal basis.
