Substitute Teacher - Part Time

A part-time substitute teaching position at DSHA would include implementing a teacher's planned lesson for the day and/or being a classroom supervisor able to turn on the computer technology needed for a teacher to teach from home. We would provide all technology training and have instructional technology support personnel to provide additional ongoing help as needed.
Salary Range
$20.50 for each class period worked or $41.00 for each extended instruction class period during the 2022-2023 school year.

Requirements

• Respond to calls from attendance secretary to fill a sub position for the day; ability to check email and your phone early in the morning is required.
• Implement the teacher's lesson plan or learning activity for the day or supervise a classroom of students while a teacher teaches from home.
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher as needed (usually via email).
• Be punctual, reliable, and consistent.
• Demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and student-focused approach to teaching; be willing to integrate our Catholic faith component as needed (quiet students for prayer, stream a school Mass as requested, etc.)
• Commit to creating a classroom environment that positively supports all students.
• Commit to asking for help when needed, and communicate with the classroom teacher, attendance secretary, and administrators so we can work as a team.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree; a certified state teaching license is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be highly organized, be an excellent communicator, have experience in a school setting (high school experience is preferable, but not required), and have a strong desire to assist all students to be successful.
Work Environment
This position requires constant contact and communication with others, multitasking, repetitive motion, some bending and requires the daily use of computers, various monitors and other office equipment.
