Location: John F. Kennedy Middle School, Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District
Salary/Pay Scale: $135.00 per day
Position Summary/Purpose:
At the John F. Kennedy Middle School the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive learning environment that recognizes the unique needs and talents of all students. This is accomplished through Restorative Practices, the 7 Habits Program, and engaging classroom instruction. This position fulfills the role of Spanish teacher. Spanish certified is preferred but not required. The position would tentatively begin on December 1, 2023 through February 1, 2024 with the possibility of extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:

• Be responsible for teaching Spanish
• Have a strong background and/or experience in designing engaging lessons that enhance collaborative learning and critical thinking skills
• Be expected to participate fully in all typical obligations of a middle school teacher - including day-to-day instructional duties and administrative tasks
• Be expected to serve as a role model for the students, staff and the community with regard to setting high expectations for learners and supporting them in reaching their goals
• Serve as an active member of our professional learning community
• Have a strong background and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, including intervention strategies and strategies to support a diversity of student learning needs
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• NYS Teaching Certification preferred. Spanish certified is preferred but not required.
• Experiencing teaching secondary students (grades 7-8) in a Language other than English, Spanish preferred
