Definition:   As a part of the ATCAA team, the SSAY Manager plays an essential role in ATCAA as a whole. Under general supervision of the Family Resource Services Director, the SSAY Manager has the responsibility for overseeing all aspects of ATCAA youth coalition programs, which includes site operations, supervising staff and volunteers, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, and outreach to the community.  In addition, the SSAY Manager will manage federal, state and private grants that support community based prevention coalitions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities related to this position:

  • Provide leadership support for all SSAY Coalition meetings, steering committee meetings, and ad hoc committee meetings.
  • Ensure all SSAY grant record keeping and reporting requirements are met.
  • Manage SSAY Coalition grants and budgets consistent with established Agency procedures and SSAY policies and protocols;
  • Facilitate the SSAY Coalition strategic work plan as described in the grant document such as developing community partnerships; recruiting new coalition members; coordinating community meetings and other coalition events, partnering with volunteers, youth, schools, youth serving organizations and other community based stakeholders.
  • Consult and train coalition members on the strategic prevention framework and implementing prevention strategies;
  • Maintain close working relationships with schools, businesses and community organizations, local agencies, parents and students to promote the mission and work of the SSAY Coalition;
  • Provide leadership in planning and coordinating community and school based education and awareness events, media campaigns, and community/parent outreach.
  • Work closely with the Family Resource Service Director in securing in-kind donations, and identifying and pursuing local funding opportunities from individuals, service clubs, businesses and foundations.
  • Provide environmental strategies and or strategic prevention framework training to coalition members.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the SSAY Coalition and the general public, service providers, boards and interested parties.
  • Development of reports, documents, brochures, newsletters.
  • Leverage resources for sustainability of the SSAY Coalition program: research, identify, and prepare applications to obtain funding for various projects. Develop and administer programs as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a record-keeping system that provides for the proper evaluation, control and documentation of assigned operations. Prepare and submit timely reports, budget and financial operations, and projects and resource development in line with Agency goals and in compliance with the SSAY Coalition program.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

As a part of the ATCAA team, all employees play an essential role in ATCAA as a whole, and are expected to:

  • Demonstrate and encourage a professional and positive attitude in all job related activities;

  • Accomplish all work activities in a safe and timely manner within assigned guidelines and consistent with ATCAA’s Personnel Policies and Operating Procedures;
  • Report and/or correct deficiencies that constitute immediate threats to health and safety;
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor that are consistent with the definition and intent of the job description;
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ATCAA’s Personnel Policies. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and reviewing work; problem solving; appraising performance, both formally and informally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health Education, Communications, Social Sciences, or closely related field OR an AA degree and four year’s experience in Substance Use Prevention, and/or Youth mentoring development;
  • Proficiency in computer operating systems and word processing software (Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Internet);
  • Proficiency in creating and managing social media content;
  • Experience in managing contracts or projects;
  • Experience in supervision and management;
  • Meet all federal/state licensing requirements and/or program requirements necessary for this position: possess a continuously valid California driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and fingerprint clearance);
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills
  • Experience in outreach, event planning, and public speaking;
  • Interact with diverse groups of people including youth and community members of all ages;
  • Work independently and with minimal supervision;
  • Lift 30 pounds.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual/Bi-literate;
  • Strong operational skills in data collection and analysis, and grant-writing skills;
  • Fundraising experience.
