JOB SUMMARY
The Biostatistician 2 provides statistical assistance for research projects and other Baylor Scott & White initiatives. This role autonomously partners with clinical and non-clinical investigators, as well as additional research or operational staff members to drive in designing and conducting appropriate statistical investigation and interpreting the results both written and orally. Educational lectures and consultations on research design and investigation may also be provided, as requested, in this role. The Biostatistician 2 is expected to take ownership of projects, maintain current knowledge of new developments in statistics and continue to grow professionally. All job duties are to be completed in a reactive and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Works autonomously and takes ownership of collaborations with investigators and project heads on statistical aspects of assigned projects.
- Contributes to study design, statistical interpretation plans, and sample size determination for standard and intermediate-level study protocols.
- Prepares analytic datasets for small to medium scale studies and/or works with a data analyst for data preparation.
- Conducts advanced statistical analyses including, but not limited to, general and generalized linear regression models.
- Produces statistical reports containing summary tables, graphs and study results.
- Assists with dissemination of study findings by helping prepare conference posters and presentations, and by contributing to manuscript drafts and addressing reviewer comments.
- Contributes to the statistical interpretation plan and sample size justification for small to medium sized grant proposals.
- Attends meetings regularly and heads up technical discussions.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner and follows best practices for implementing and conducting project activities.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Knowledge of common statistical concepts, methodologies, practice and procedures with the ability to identify and apply appropriate techniques based on a project's design and aims.
- Ability to research and apply less common statistical techniques when needed.
- Ability to develop investigation plans and perform sample size calculations for research proposals, including grant applications.
- Proficiency in SAS and/or statistical programming languages (e.g. R, STATA, Python).
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with evidence of scholarly activity including peer-reviewed research publications.
- Ability to autonomously work on multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to autonomously partner with transdisciplinary teams including clinical and non-clinical investigators as well as research staff members.
