The LVN provides nursing care to patients of all adult ages; from sub acute to geriatric patients.
LVN scope of practices and duties.
1. Assumes responsibility and accountability for designated patients
2. Provides nursing care to all patients of all ages with no discrimination.
3. Identifies self as nurse responsible for care to patients, family and physicians. Provides nursing care for all patients within scope of LVN practice
4. Gathers data relevant to the patient’s individual needs and age group
a. Elicit important information concerning the patient’s progress
b. Gathers data regarding patient needs while providing direct patient care
1) Documents nursing observations according to facility charting standards
2) For the benefit of the patient, the nurse, and the physician to visit the patient together
3) Administers medications and treatments per facility policy and nursing scope of practice
C. Reports symptoms, reactions, and progress of patient to the clinical supervisor and/or Charge Nurse. Ensure appropriate action has been taken.
D. Pursue proper chain of command to attain a satisfactory solution.
E. Initiates changes to improve patient care; discusses changes with doctor when appropriate.
F. Provides IV Therapy according to nursing policy and procedure that is within LVN scope of practice.
Assists the RN in patient and family education.
Utilizes educational opportunities within the facility and other avenues to maintain clinical expertise to promote personal growth and development.
Responsible for knowledge of legal aspects of nursing
Attends fire and safety classes annually and maintains a current CPR (BLS) card
Job Types: Part-time, Per diem
Pay: $29.00 - $30.00 per hour
