Position Title Student Worker Math & ComputerScience Tutor/Admin 23-24 Position Classification Student Worker Employment Type Part Time Benefits Not Applicable Department Math & Computer Science Summary Assists WNMU students with their math and/or Computer Science course work and also provides office support.
Duties - Tutors in Developmental Mathematics, Business Mathematics, College Algebra & Trigonometry, Calculus I, II, and III, and Statistics.
- Leads Zoom meetings online.
- Provides a broad range of administrative functions. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external). Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU philosophy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Current WNMU student. Familiarity with the MATLAB environment, Rstudio, Python, Scientific Notebook, Desmos, and Microsoft Access a plus.
Job Knowledge Excellent customer service and communication skills. Skills in mathematics. Skill in general office duties and office equipment to include telephones, copier, Fax, and computer/computer programs. Must be knowledgeable of University policies and procedures. Must be able to handle multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the University and community. Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications.
Working Conditions/ Physical Demands (With or Without Accommodations) Normal office environment. May be required to lift normal office equipment and materials. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information. Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication. Hearing ability for verbal communication/ conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
