Position Title:Student Teller

Reports To: Senior Branch Manager or Branch Manager

Department: Retail Banking

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Purpose:The Student Teller is a critical member of the retail team delivering a personalized and caring client experience, efficiently executing banking transactions, and introducing products and services that improve the financial well-being of customers. This Float position will be traveling within the assigned branch footprint to provide support to our teams. This role will begin in May, extending 10-12 weeks with opportunities to be extended past summer or with a full time employment offer.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide support to retail branch staff in assigned footprint.
  2. Greets clients and prospective clients entering the office following established customer service guidelines.
  3. Provides exceptional customer service and an outstanding banking experience by handling financial transactions accurately and professionally.
  4. Maintains responsibility for a cash drawer and follows proper balancing procedures.
  5. Supports daily operations of the office to include processing night deposit bags, ATM deposits, balancing the vault, ATM, cash recycler, and cash advance machine, or other operational needs.
  6. Answers the phone within the office promptly and professionally.
  7. Ensures compliance with security and audit procedures.
  8. Understands and adheres to established policies and procedures.
  9. Maintains knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and completes assigned compliance training.
  10. Develops and maintains knowledge of bank products and services.
  11. Introduces customers to alternate banking channels including ATM/ITM and Digital.
  12. Identifies customer needs and refers to the appropriate team member/business partner.
  13. Demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience in every interaction with internal and external customers, associates, and stakeholders. Incorporate the high-performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example, and service in every facet of work.

Job Related Qualifications - Education and Prior Experience:

Required:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent business experience
  • Prior Experience:: 1+ year customer service experience

  1. Ability to make personal connections, engage clients, be courteous and professional.
  2. Ability to successfully utilize multiple systems and applications accurately and simultaneously.
  3. Knowledge of and ability to provide products and services available through retail banking.
  4. Knowledge of and ability to utilize processes, tools, and techniques for detecting, addressing and preventing fraudulent situations.
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills
  6. Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  7. Strong mathematical, communication and interpersonal skills
  8. Ability to learn and utilize new technology effectively and efficiently.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Able to regularly stand for prolonged periods of time.
  2. Able to regularly lift 1-10 lbs., occasionally lifting to 30 lbs.
  3. Able to travel between office locations regularly, potentially daily..
  4. Extensive computer usage is required.
  5. Moderate to extensive phone usage is required.
  6. Ability to perform repetitive motions.

Other:

  • Work schedule: Varies with office needs and may include evenings and weekends.
