The Student Support Coordinator is responsible for tracking student growth, especially students who require extra support. The position also supports the Dean of Students with student behaviors when needed. Responsibilities and Duties
- Ability to analyze academic and behavioral data (For example: Acadience, NWEA/MAP, CMAS, PSAT, SAT, Curriculum-Based-Measurements)
- Communicate mission and vision as it pertains to academic and behavioral data.
- Work with teachers and other support staff to set achievable targets for students and follow up with progress made and next steps.
- Knowledge of Direct Instruction, Explicit Instruction, Core Knowledge, CHAMPS, etc.
- Able to use the STOIC framework to guide next steps for students. This includes effective accommodations for both behavioral and academic success.
- Excellent communication skills with parents, staff and students.
- Work in cooperation with students, special education staff, administration, classroom teachers and parents for student success.
- Run Kid Talk team and track progress on classroom interventions for struggling students.
- Complete weekly progress monitoring check-ins with students who have interventions (MTSS process, 504 Plan, etc.).
- Compile data and write MTSS reports for possible referral to special education.
- Track student progress through the MTSS process and 504 goals. Adjust levels of support.
- Have knowledge of and use effective de-escalation techniques when needed.
- Bachelor's degree in education or other related field is preferred. Candidates with an associate's degree or high school diploma may be considered depending on skills and experience.
- Deep knowledge of the mission, vision, and educational philosophy at JICS is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a variety of personality types; Excellent track record of professional communication and collaboration with colleagues
- Strong organizational skills in scheduling, following procedures/protocol, following up with teachers, parents and students.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in a fast-paced setting.
