UW Bothell has an outstanding opportunity Student Support & Basic Needs Manager. for a The Student Support & Basic Needs Manager will enhance university retention efforts and support student success by helping parenting students with resources by managing the Department of Education's Child Care Access Means Parents in School Program (CCAMPISP) grant. Which ensures parenting students can access resources like child care, the Parent Pantry, and other family products. This role will also oversee operations for the UWB Student Pantry and Parent Pantry (UWB Pantry Services) to support students experiencing BASIC NEEDS insecurity. Additionally, they will provide guidance and expertise in BASIC NEEDS services for all students on campus through programming and education.
Program Oversight

  • Identify trends in BASIC NEEDS of the campus community, update programmatic approaches accordingly, and share information with the campus community.
  • Oversee the federally funded CCAMPIS program at the University of Washington Bothell in adherence with federal guidelines regulating the CCAMPIS program.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, data, and any other materials required by the Department of Education for this program.
  • Research child care centers in the Qualified Opportunity Zones and produce a resource that promotes these options for student parents. As well as establish familiarity with licensed childcare facilities in Puget Sound.
  • Track which local child care centers maintain their National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation and advise student parents accordingly.
  • Provide a quarterly accounting of funds disbursed through the Child Care Assistance Program including how many UW Bothell CCAMPIS eligible students, and their children were served by the program and which subsidies were applied.
  • Utilize the EAB Navigate student information system to maintain CCAMPIS student list, track and communicate with students, make referrals, and allow students to easily schedule appointments.
  • Work closely with the UWB Financial Aid office to administer funds through the Child care Assistance Program ( https://www.uwb.edu/financial-aid/childcare-assistance-program), including identifying Pell-eligible parenting students and applying a sliding fee scale to stretch the Child care Assistance Program resources as far as possible.
  • Craft the annual SAF request for funds to support the Child Care Assistance Program in collaboration with the Parent Student Union.
  • Support the Parent Union to help create a sense of belonging among parenting students.
  • Maintain the Husky Pantry and Parent Pantry (UWB Pantry Services) budget including grant management used for funding. Collaborate with EMSA Operations to place regular and timely orders for food, family products, and hygiene supplies.
  • This role will work closely with the Resource Navigator in researching and building up a network of community partners to broaden BASIC NEEDS-related services available to students. Additionally, this role will collaborate with the Resource Navigator to identify trends and gaps in resources to support students' BASIC NEEDS.
  • Serve as site coordinator for the United Way of King County Benefits Hub program and serve as primary point of contact in relation to Benefits Hub staff supervision and day to day programming.
    Student Programs & Support
  • Manage the UWB Pantry Services relationship with the Kodiak Cave (Cascadia College's food pantry) to cross-promote services and work towards common goals of food security for all UWB and Cascadia students.
  • Oversee operations for the UWB Pantry Services to be open regular hours each week, including ensuring adequate staffing during opening hours to provide supplies and services to students.
  • Act as a point of contact for parenting students interested in the Child care Assistance Program and provide BASIC NEEDS referrals to the Resource Navigator.
  • Create opportunities for Basic Needs programming and targeted outreach to UWB and Cascadia programs and departments, including marketing, social media, tabling events, and classroom visits.
  • Coordinate meetings with parenting students individually and in small groups to advise them on their options and help them apply for Child Care Assistance Program funding, grants, and scholarships that may be available to them.
  • Collaborate with Student Engagement & Activities to offer family-friendly events to be offered to parenting students. Which can include workshops and discussions around opportunities to learn more about resources available.
  • Conduct quarterly information sessions to describe the available resources to incoming and current students so that all students can learn about the benefits and eligibility requirements of the program.
    Building Sustainable Institutional Infrastructure
  • Participate in committees as assigned to support student success including the Wellness Steering Committee.
  • Partner with other programs to seamlessly integrate Basic Needs services into campus offerings, including the UWB and Cascadia Care Teams, and develop and implement referral protocols with campus and community partners like Financial Aid and Academic Advising.
  • Collaborate with the Wellness Steering Committee and Resource Navigator to collect data, identify trends in BASIC NEEDS of the campus community, update programmatic approaches accordingly, and share information with the campus community as appropriate.
  • Explore and monitor resources offered through UW Human Resources, posted on the parent@uw.edu listserv, and similar local parenting groups or forums.
    Supervision
  • Offer guidance to paid staff, student staff, field work students, and/or Benefits Hub staff on creating and implementation of education programs for students around BASIC NEEDS topics. This may include workshops, campus activities, and social media outlets.
  • Create opportunities for student staff to outreach to UWB and Cascadia programs and departments, including marketing, tabling events, and classroom presentations to promote HaWRC services, Benefits Hub, and Pantry Services.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in in social work, health studies, or education.
  • At least two years of experience in service provision and/or community engagement related to human services, that includes 1-2 years of experience working with students experiencing BASIC NEEDS insecurity.
    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and collaborate with community partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving program requirements and changing needs within the institution.
  • Experience working in an education or social service setting.
    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with providing services in a higher education setting, including but not limited to advising, financial aid, or health promotion.
  • Experience working with BASIC NEEDS and parenting resources in King and Snohomish Counties.
  • Experience as an AmeriCorps member.
  • Program management and supervision experience.
    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • This position will be located in the Health and Wellness Resource Center (HaWRC) which is a student facing office located in the Activities & Recreation Center (ARC).
  • Students will be present and entering at different times during the day.
  • This position will have a workspace cubical.
