Definition
Under the direction of the Provider Network Program Manager/Grants and Special Programs Manager, the Student Summer Extern will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and insight into the day-to-day function and processes of the department. This opportunity will provide a hands-on experience for students interested in healthcare administration, managed care, or public health.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Provider NetworkStudent Summer Extern is a part-time employee (28 hours per week) who is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of the Provider Network Management Department.
Essential Functions
- Assists in answering department calls and perform clerical duties.
- Operate a variety of office machines, such as copier, facsimile, and telephone system.
- Coordinate and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Document existing processes, workflows, procedures, identify area of improvement and offer innovative solutions.
- Support special projects and initiatives as related to the Provider Network Management department such as grants and special programs, provider relations, and Provider Network analytics.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures related to employment and job responsibilities.
- Must be currently enrolled in high school, college, or university.
- Must be between 16 and 26 years of age.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
- Be available for the entire summer break, flexible hours, Monday - Friday (with the exception of planned vacation, or needed days off to be discussed with department)
