Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Student Success Facilitator, School of Nursing [R0139469].
ROLE of the POSITION
This is an opening for a Student Success Facilitator for the School of Nursing. The Nursing Student Success Facilitator (NSSF) is responsible for providing support for BSN students related to study strategies and test-taking strategies, and review of course content and clinical skills. The NSSF will be available to meet with students in small groups, one-to-one, and in open skills labs or other appropriate course/clinical activities.
The NSSF will work with the faculty to identify students at risk for program disruption based on academic and non-academic factors. They will direct mechanisms for student support by facilitating student appointments, sessions, and other support services or programs relevant to Student Success. The NSSF will monitor students throughout the program to detect individual and cohort needs to identify opportunities for added support and to promote Student Success in a rigorous and accelerated academic program.
The NSSF will also work with the Student Affairs team to promote Student Success.
Duties include but not limited to:
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify students at risk for course failure or program disruption
  • Conduct one-to-one and group sessions to include but not limited to such themes as time management, study and test taking strategies, and campus community resources
  • Identify academic and non-academic barriers to success
  • Facilitate student support referrals to applicable SON faculty/staff as well as campus partners, such as the UNLV Support Team, the CARE Center, DRC, CAPS, and others
  • Communicate with faculty when issues are identified
  • Maintain rapport with students through frequent email communication and occasional class attendance
  • Assist with collection, analysis, and dissemination of data specific to Student Success initiatives
  • Assist with identification and modification strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with the Director of Accreditation and Assessment to identify tracking mechanisms, and provide requested Student Success data
  • Provide Student Success data to appropriate parties as needed
  • Direct and implement the program to include mentor recruitment, mentor/mentee matching, mentor orientation, compliance with document submission, mentor/mentee concerns, and RNMP surveys
  • Collaborate with applicable course faculty to communicate compliance with RNMP mentor guidelines for leadership hours
  • Assist the Assistant Dean for Administration, Outreach, and Engagement with the student portion of the Alumni Rebel Nurse Mentor Program
  • Provide a holistic approach in meeting both academic and non-academic needs of students
  • Knowledge of and collaboration with campus partners such as the UNLV Student Support Team, CAPS, DRC, CARE Center, and more to connect students with university support services
  • Follow-up with students to determine ongoing need for assistance with connecting with UNLV support services
  • Participate in Events Committee
  • Support SON events
  • Present at BSN contract signing and BSN & DEMSN orientation
  • Present student support information in applicable course

PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE
The School of Nursing at UNLV offers CCNE-accredited programs leading to a BSN, MS (nurse practitioner and nurse educator tracks), DNP, and PhD (Educator and Interprofessional Health concentrations and DNP to PhD).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 2 years of professional experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
