Position Type: Union-TREA, Student Success CoordinatorBuilding: Three Rivers Middle SchoolReports to: Building PrincipalTerms of Employment: Salary, terms and other conditions of employment established by TREA Master Agreement.Position Goal: Student Success Coordinator will ensure a strong commitment to improving academic, behavioral, and social achievement of students. Specifically, this individual will work to provide, implement and coordinate academic and social development for our students and handle appropriate discipline with a restorative practice approach. Required Qualifications:Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required.Must have valid Michigan teaching certificate and demonstrate compliance as a "highly qualified teacher" as defined by the Michigan Department of EducationPrevious teaching experience in a comparable district or extensive experience working with middle school and/or high school aged studentsDemonstrated advanced technology skills as it relates to software for student data and schedulingEvidence of ability to work successfully with students, parent, staff and communityDemonstrated organizational skills and excellence in follow-through and detail managementTraining/valid experiences with restorative practices.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong interest in obtaining full Michigan School Guidance Counselor licensure (NT endorsement) or Michigan School Counselor License Qualified candidates should skillfully demonstrate the following:the ability to prioritize student-learning needs over the customs, routines, and established relationships that can stand in the way of necessary change; the strong desire to achieve outstanding results in a short amount of time; the strong desire and ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students in order to exert academic press and influence; the skill and willingness to leverage the student support network to ensure that students' social, emotional, nutritional, and health needs are addressed; the ability to collaboratively create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning; the capacity to rigorously create and sustain a well-orchestrated system of ongoing data collection and analysis to inform a continuously responsive and adaptive system of tiered instruction attentive to students' specific academic needs.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Adhere to the Master Agreement, district and building policies regarding attendance, business procedures, student discipline, safety and personal appearance.Work collaboratively with the office staff to ensure the overall success of middle school studentsIdentify student academic and social/emotional needs and behavioral needs; implement Tier I and Tier II academic and/or social intervention plans/strategies to small groups or individuals; communicate student intervention plans and progress to parents, building administration and teaching staff Serve as building-wide Positive School Climate implementation coordinator; develop school-wide and classroom activities and lessons to support the overall positive climate of the building Collect/analyze data as it relates to student academic and social success; progress monitoring to ensure all students needing additional support are serviced; attend district level data team meetings and participate in the Student Success Team processAssist administrative staff in response to behavioral situations throughout the buildingMay assist testing supervisor with coordination of PSAT/MSTEP testingGrant writing to sustain educational options and experiences for all studentsWork intensively with school behavioral and counseling staff to promote student well beingAbility to teach classroom lessons for supporting students academically, emotionally, and behaviorallyRegular and reliable attendance is an essential job dutyAbility to legally sub in classes if neededOther duties as assigned by the Building Principal.Interested TREA (INTERNAL) applicants please submit a letter of interest to kblakley@trschools.org no later than 3:00 PM on December 13, 2023.
