Lester Prairie is a rural community located in eastern McLeod County on the edge of the western suburbs, 40 miles west of Minneapolis. We have an enrollment of approximately 520 preK-12 students in one building.
Job Title:Student Success Coach
Reports To: Building Principal

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for working with students, school staff, and families to provide educational support services across the district to ensure Student Success and eventual graduation. Work with teachers to design and implement best-practice, evidence-based instruction, interventions, and programs to enhance Student Success as well as serve as a resource for MTSS processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide staff guidance and assistance in understanding screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners, instruction/intervention design, and students' response to interventions.
- Provide individual and small group student instruction designed to meet individual needs.
- Communicate, assist, and work closely with classroom teachers in designing interventions and monitoring responses to interventions.
- Serve as a liaison to administrators, teachers, counselors, social workers, school psychologists, and other stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate interventions and supports through MTSS processes.
- Customize and facilitate professional development based on district needs.
- Model lessons and strategies in the classroom
- Visit classrooms and provide feedback when requested by teachers.
- Consult with district teams such as grade level, content area, SPED, EL, and paraprofessionals regarding strategies and techniques to foster progress of struggling students.
- Identify best practices regarding teaching, instruction, and assessment in MTSS.
- Analyze assessment and other relevant data to assist in creating goals and objectives and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and services.
- Coach colleagues in literacy best practices to carry out the Local Literacy Plan.
- Facilitate Student Assessment Team (SAT) and Professional Learning Community (PLC) team meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of state standards, best-practice instruction, assessment, data collection, progress monitoring, and MTSS.
- Ability to demonstrate communication, collaboration, and leadership skills in professional practice.
- Strong knowledge of culturally responsive teaching and research-based interventions.
- Ability to effectively coach and develop others.
- Provide support and guidance for the district to accelerate student achievement and reduce achievement gaps.
- Establish and meet schedules and timelines and work with discretion and confidentiality.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Apply policies and procedures related to assigned duties and responsibilities of the position with good judgement.
Minimum of four years teaching experience required. A strong background in effective implementation of professional development, data assessment, mentoring, and instructional coaching preferred. Reading Specialist or related degree preferred.
Salary and benefits per the teachers master agreement.
