Job Description
The Student Success Advisor will provide support over a wide variety of areas including pre-enrollment support, academic progress monitoring, day-to-day student issues, career development and personal development. The Student Success Advisor will be their students’ “go-to” staff member for almost any issue. The Student Success Advisor will be able to work collaboratively and hand-in-hand with AMDA faculty and staff to ensure each student’s academic success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as the student’s primary contact for all academic concerns as well as serve as a liaison between the student and other departments at AMDA.
Act as the first contact for more serious issues and when appropriate, if the Student Mentor cannot immediately resolve the student’s issue, guide the student to the staff member who can best help the student resolve the issue
Check in weekly with each student to ensure student progress in all areas of their AMDA experience
Prepare students for their transition to AMDA from high school, and integrate new students into the intellectual, artistic and creative life at AMDA
Provide baseline academic guidance to students throughout their time at AMDA and in preparing for graduation, assist students in achieving post-graduation career goals
Work collaboratively with Admissions Advisors to ensure that each accepted student is fully ready to attend AMDA and has submitted all required document.
Coordinate with other departments, specifically Education Services and Student Affairs, to increase retention and graduation rates for students
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required
· Minimum of one year of appropriately related experience required; experience in student services and advisement will be given preference
· Superior oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and administrative skills with the ability to work with a team of diverse professional staff and students.
Shift: Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm
Hourly Rate: $22-$25
