This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Social Media Content Creator position for the College of Engineering at Oregon State University ( OSU).
The College of Engineering Marketing and Communications teams is seeking a creative and enthusiastic student employee to join our team as a Social Media Content Creator. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing the college's Social Media presence, engaging with our community, and aligning our Social Media strategy with the college's priorities and goals. This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 2 hours per week) Social Media Content Creator.
Position Duties
Content Creation:
  • Develop and curate engaging and visually appealing content for the college's official media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and (soon) TikTok).
  • Create multiMedia Content including images, videos, and stories to share college news, achievements, student stories, faculty recognition, industry partnerships, and more.
Content planning:
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content calendars and strategic campaigns that align with the college's brand and goals.
  • Schedule and post content in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Encourage user-generated content and facilitate takeovers to showcase diverse perspectives and experiences.
Trend Research:
  • Stay up to date with Social Media trends and best practices.
  • Recommend innovate, and creative approaches to improve the college's Social Media presence.

Who you are:
Successful applicants must be able to work independently, have strong organizational skills, a creative eye, and respect for brand guidelines. You must have a working knowledge of editing content within the native Social Media apps and some basic knowledge of editing software (Canva or Adobe for example). Most importantly, you must be willing to learn on the job because Social Media trends are fast and ever-changing. You will need to listen to and apply feedback from mentors and peers. We're looking for a motivated, reliable, and creative student who is eager to contribute to our team and committed to the quality of our work.
Maybe you are an engineer, maybe you aren't:
Even though being an engineering student may give you a quick insight into the college, it isn't a requirement to fill the Social Media needs of the college. We're looking for someone who gets excited about Social Media and the role it plays in building our brand reputation and loyalty. If you have creative ideas for how to make engineering content engaging and exciting - then let's talk!
What you'll create:
You'll work with our team and gain hands-on experience producing creative content for our Social Media channels.
Projects could include:
  • Short-form video for Instagram reels and (our future) TikTok.
  • Digital ads that engage our audience.
  • Static posts leveraging photo assets or graphics.
  • Video series highlighting the OSU engineering experience and the value of an engineering degree.
  • Entertaining trend videos
  • And more!
