Job Description:

The Student Resource Navigator (SRN) participates in the day to day operations of the DCC CARES (Campus Assessment Response Evaluation Support) initiative with primary focus on providing wraparound services to students enrolled in the Direct Support Professional (DSP) microcredential program. 

The SRN reports to the Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Success: Social and Emotional Support.

Primary Responsibilities:

Facilitate the awarding of student wraparound funds and making connections with other support resources for students enrolled in the DSP program.

Supports the DCC CARES Initiative by:

  • Engaging with students who may be facing non-academic challenges that are jeopardizing their academic success
  • Responding to referrals from the ACT Center, Counseling & Health Services, Daycare Center, Student Financial Services, Office of the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Success, Residence Life, faculty, and other College offices
  • Managing a systemic response to student needs that creates a support network of College specific-resources and community-based support services
  • Coordinating and tracking services accessed by students; evaluate impact of services on student persistence
  • Keeping current referral policies and procedures for on- and off-campus Student Resources
  • Coordinating with other campus offices to provide programming and interventions to support resilience, financial planning and literacy, and self-empowerment skills
  • Promoting a campus and community awareness campaign designed to alert students, faculty, and staff to the program's services by partnering with other College offices, including Communications and Public Relations, Grants and the Foundation to publicize the initiative through presentations, social media and webpage, and written materials at orientation, Student Government Association (SGA), and the shared governance structure
  • Contributing to grant required reports
  • Coordinating with community-based resources to provide an on-campus presence to reduce the barrier to access for students to such resources and public benefits
  • Other duties as assigned  


Requirements:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required
  • Ability to work under stress, to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain the highest appropriate level of confidentially associated with student self-disclosed information, secure documents and sensitive records
  • Proficient with computer applications (Banner, Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom)
  • Experience with application, award and tracking software. Experience with Maxient and Starfish particularly desirable
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required or Bachelor's degree and related employment experience. Master's Degree in Social Work (M.S.W.) preferred.
  • Four years of relevant experience in youth development/social services preferred with a minimum of two years experience providing case management, follow-up support services and referrals to community-based resource providers and college specific resources for students who are experiencing non-academic difficulties that may impede their persistence and academic success
  • Considerable triage/crisis management experience working with a diverse student population in a Higher Education environment, preferably in a Community College environment
  • Experience with grant support, compliance and project direction.
  • Experience working with First Generation College students, preferably at a Community College

Especially Desirable:

  • Experience working with adult learners
  • Experience working with student parents
  • Knowledge of direct support professionals workplace environments
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Additional Information:

The performance of this work is primarily in-person and on-site. Flexible hours required; some travel will be necessary.

 Class: Administration/Dutchess United Educators

Starting Salary will be $63,133

The start date: TBD
