Under the direction of the Director(s) of Student Affairs and Wellbeing, theStudent Life Coordinator is responsible for students' health compliance records, security of these records, the secure distribution of this information to affiliates and developing and implementing student orientations, graduations and other SOM events. This position also manages and coordinates all student organizations' events and works collaboratively with all offices in the School of Medicine.

Candidates should have prior Student Life experience.
This is a hybrid role, you need to be in the office 3 days a week and work 2 days remotely. This may change so candidates should be flexible.

Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Student Life Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Work with outside vendor in initiating and maintaining data base tracking of all students' requirements to include immunizations, and drug screening, tracking all students are cleared, notifying them before they expire and track individual situations that need ongoing monitoring. 2.Responsible for the management and scheduling of annual, on-campus immunizations for students including, Influenza, tuberculosis, BLS, MySuccess learning management system, and Fit Testing. Develop and distribute relevant compliance correspondence to all accepted students through matriculation.
  • Responsible for the management of student organizations and Student Interest Groups including application, budgeting, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Assist student organization leaders in planning panels, events, outreach projects and meetings. This includes: scheduling and planning events, ordering supplies, contracting for catering, and budgeting.
  • Collaborate with all SOM departments in the planning and execution of HDIO (2-week orientation) for new cohort, including oversight of budget, event planning and logistics.
  • Support Clerkship Directors and Coordinators in compliance needs related to student health requirements.
  • Screen candidates resumes and interview candidates for new positions in the Office of Student Affairs and Wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with Associate Deans and Directors in updating Student Handbook.
  • Work closely with School of Medicine - Office of Admissions in reviewing students background reports of incoming students.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Business, Sociology, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in administration of a higher education program for students.
  • An understanding of, ability to demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, ability, military, religious, sexual orientation and gender identity backgrounds of medical students, faculty and staff.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Education, Student Counseling, College Student Personnel, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in database management and standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in medical education and/or medical residency education.
  • 2-year post-graduate and 3+ years full-time work experience in academic or career advising.
