The objective of the counselor is to provide students and parents with a positive understanding of the financial aid process and to assist them in funding their education. Job duties include the following: Maintain knowledge of federal and state legislation, rules and regulations and policies and procedures pertaining to financial aid. Counseling of current and prospective students in all matters pertaining to financial aid and the payment of tuition and fees; by appointment, walk-in and phone.
Facilitate the packaging process by advising students as to the proper filing of required applications and supporting documentation. Manage the application, delivery and certification of Federal PLUS and alternative loans. Review PLUS denials and requests on a case by case basis.
Perform verification including requesting additional documentation as needed. Provides educational services: exit interviews, financial aid nights, open houses, orientation, FAFSA workshops, internal training, and financial literacy activities. Post documents received in system.
Perform TAP estimates. Other duties as assigned, willingness to cross train.
