Hatch is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Student Intern to join our team in the Brooklyn, NY office. We are looking for students that enjoy working with people in a team environment, strive for excellence, and understand innovation.

 

Building new infrastructure and revitalizing existing assets are a key part of growth for any economy. We work with our clients to imagine and build rail networks of the future through a constant commitment to innovation and cutting-edge technology. 
 
Our knowledge of transit infrastructure includes track, earthworks, bridges and structures, tunnels, traction power, and rail signals and communications. Want to be part of the creation and construction of our future transportation network? Then the infrastructure team is for you! 
 
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for various technical design duties on rail transit projects. These projects could include feasibility analyses; conceptual design; preliminary and detailed design; drafting of plans and specifications; and other support as required to the Rail Tranist Infrastructure team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with developing project scopes and engineering estimates
  • Use the application of Civil engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment.
  • Application of innovative engineering solutions.
  • Engineering design of track, earthworks and rail corridor misc. infrastructure.
  • Working independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Candidates with previous Heavy Industrial Internship or Co-op experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to achieving engineering excellence.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems.
  • A desire to learn and continually develop.
  • Strong personal commitment to safety.

  • Perform assignments related to your sector.
  • Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects.
  • Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
  • Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
  • Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed.
