JOB DESCRIPTION
1.0 Identification: Structural Designer
1.01 Organizational Level: Reports to the Chief Operations Officer
1.02 Job Status: Exempt
1.03 Relationships: All staff, customers, and vendors
2.0 Job Summary
Responsible for creating and developing quality packaging designs; investigate and procure all data required to develop the design. To support development and growth through innovation, efficiency, and creative packaging design.
3.0 Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions)
- Manage multiple projects from concept to production release
- Coordinate the scheduling and completion of multiple design projects.
- Using Artios software, create detailed and innovative designs to meet project objectives.
- Develop new and improved packaging designs by analyzing client’s needs and production feasibility
- Coordinate internal & external prototyping development efforts utilizing computer aided software, cutting table, and other methods as required.
- Responsible for the purchase of all tooling including cutting dies and print plates.
- Create and communicate palletizing options utilizing software.
- Create CAD manufacturing layouts; work with vendors to source, secure cost estimates, process purchase orders, and inspect deliverables to ensure quality.
- Lead efforts to ensure that all new products meet established process conditions, criteria: product safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and legality when applicable.
- Responsible for establishing initial product performance specifications.
- Actively participate in New Product Ideation and Concept generation
- May have primary product design responsibility for key, select customers; participate as needed in customer visits and represent the organization
- Acts as a liaison between production and design departments to ensure cutting dies are laid out properly
- Perform Technical Illustration tasks as required
- Assist in tool and manufacturing capability studies with team to assure that all new products meet established standards and specifications.
- Travel, as required.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Additional duties may be assigned by management. a. Raw or Finished Materials: corrugated paper, cutting dies and printing plates b. Tools and Machines Used: computer, CAD table, calculator, tape measure, reports, manuals, training materials, marketing materials, office equipment, various software packages

4.0 Job Specification
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with an emphasis in Structural or Packaging design
- Minimum 3 to 5 years structural design experience in a corrugated packaging industry, preferred
- Aptitude for 3D visualization and design; experience in 3D software a plus
- Attention to detail with ability to rapidly change focus between tasks/projects
- Results orientated and able to work both independently and within team environment
- Technical knowledge of industry and equipment
- Must be highly computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office, Adobe
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
