Reporting to the Certification Manager, the Structural Certification Engineer Intern will be part of the team responsible for the research, planning, and execution of the FAA certification process for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. This position is onsite, in Winston-Salem, NC.

This position may be eligible for relocation.

Project Exposure and Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working with and Certification Engineers and/or other integrated project team stakeholders in the development and qualification of various seating programs and standard work for the certification department. 
  • Performing a variety of routine tasks designed to provide hands-on experience with engineering methods and practices to include engineering calculations, quantities take-offs, cost estimating, CAD, and project specification review and development.
  • Task assignments are selected to provide educational challenge, professional growth, and completion of ongoing project deliverables and milestones.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
