HP's Product and Services Communications (PSC) team is a growing team within Corporate Affairs at HP, on a mission to show why HP products matter to everyone, everywhere. The team manages executive communications, media/analyst relations, product communications and product reviews for HP's four global business units (GBUs) - Personal Systems (compute devices, peripherals, workstations and gaming); Printing Systems (office and home printers, supplies, specialty printing and industrial graphics); Workforce Solutions (employee productivity consulting and Services for enterprise IT); and Personalization and 3D Printing.
The Strategic Planning and Operations manager plays a critical role within the PSC team helping to connect the dots across the four GBU communications teams, as well as the storytelling teams (media/analyst relations, market communications and executive communications). The role will lead on all pan-product operations, including direct staff engagement, business reviews, strategy development, budget planning and measurement.
Additionally the role will also serve as lead program manager and coordinator for the PSC team's engagement in HP's four strategic events - CES, Amplify Partner Conference (APC), HP Imagine (our annual product showcase) and the release of the annual Sustainable Impact Report. These events are crucial moments for HP's interaction with external stakeholders including customers, partners, media and analysts; as well as for the PSC teams' engagement with internal stakeholders including marketing, GBU executives, employee communications and events, to name a few.
This role requires an exceptional level of organization and program management skills and a proven track record in juggling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. The successful candidate is detail oriented, proactive, professional and discreet. Experience with program management, Excel, PowerPoint and strong written communications skills are a strong plus.
This role reports to the Global Head of Product & Services Communications (PSC) and will be a thought partner and collaborator with the rest of the PSC leadership team.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage pan-GBU collaboration and operations in close partnership with Head of Global P&S Communications
  • Drives meeting cadence and management, including strategic planning, budgeting and business reviews
  • Manage/oversee budget across PSC and in consultation with GBU Comms leaders
  • Drives efficiency and process for vendors and tools, including measurement, public relations and executive communications agencies
  • Content development and creation as needed, including written, visual and social
  • Oversee all in person media events working with Strategic Media Lead and GBU communications leads, including Virtual Press Briefing coordination for all PSC teams and agency

Education and Experience Required:
  • BA or BS in Communications, Marketing or Business Administration.
  • 7-10 years of experience in events, external communications, journalism, or marketing.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proven experience crafting social and digital content, thought leadership content and content strategy
  • Strong events management experience, including interaction with press/media and analysts
  • Superior storytelling, writing and editing skills; strong oral communications skills and ability to convey complex ideas.
  • Superior organization and program management skills within fast-paced and demanding environment.

  • High levels of tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the company top to bottom, including most senior company management.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $101,000 -- $156,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
