The Director, Global Metals Category will oversee ITW's purchased Steel, Aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals across the Enterprise. This role will report to the Vice-President, Global Strategic Sourcing and EH&S.
The role will be responsible for establishing multiple, category-specific sourcing strategies for the enterprise while working within ITW's decentralized framework. Priority "80" responsibilities include:

Job Description
The Director, Global Metals Category will oversee ITW's purchased Steel, Aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals across the Enterprise. This role will report to the Vice-President, Global Strategic Sourcing and EH&S.
The role will be responsible for establishing multiple, category-specific sourcing strategies for the enterprise while working within ITW's decentralized framework. Priority "80" responsibilities include:
- Working with ITW divisions to create category strategies on "80" Spend,
- Engaging with Mills, Service Centers, and Distributors to develop relationships that enable cross-divisional leverage, access to NPD/NPI technology, and generating OI improvement through VAVE efforts,
- Defining key supplier and market trends for budgetary and forecasting purposes,
- Collaborating with various internal customers in our decentralized environment to support business needs (lead/facilitate annual negotiations, capture KPI for critical suppliers, troubleshoot, and create corrective action for non-compliant supplier behavior).
Primary Responsibilities
- Metals Experience: HR/CR Carbon Steel, Long Products, Stainless, and Aluminum processing and sourcing experience required, ideally with proven relationships with the Mills directly.
- Strong business acumen and functional expertise to contribute to the strategic direction of ITW's global businesses. Ability to navigate a P&L and demonstrate impact that his/her category will on profitability.
- Defines and drives ITW divisions to create competitive advantage and reach Full Potential. Builds a Category roadmap both at the aggregate, strategic level of the Enterprise, and relevance to its dependent divisions.
- Identifies strategic partners and delivers improved products and lower costs to the organization through supplier management, Strategic Sourcing, commodity management, and total cost principles.
- Leverages strong project and change management skills to drive continuous improvements for the commodity. Introduces innovative strategies for the commodity.
- Coaches, mentors, and develops commodity team and extended stakeholder team talent. Develops a diverse, high-performing commodity team and associated organization.
- Monitors and socializes critical global regulatory concerns related to metals that may impact ITW business, including an emphasis on green and sustainable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (ME or metallurgical discipline preferred).
- Minimum of 10+ years of broad sourcing leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing organization, across a large multi-location, global business.
- Managed at least $400M + in annualized spend in Metals; diversified across multiple operational locations where aggregation and negotiation expertise is proven.
- Demonstrated experience influencing senior executives and key stakeholders in a decentralized environment.
- Proven results in managing and developing talent.
- Exception Analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to convert data to meaningful/actionable information.
