The Gaming Ecosystem Organization supports Xbox through our mission to empower game creators to realize their dreams. As the Strategic Partner Manager for China Partnerships, you are responsible for leading a cross organizational v-team in managing complex partnerships with Asia based global gaming partners. Our China Creator Partnerships team is chartered to partner with China based game publishers and developers to develop games for the Xbox ecosystem across Console, PC, Cloud, Mobile, and Game Pass platforms and empower Creators to grow, engage, and monetize their community of players. You will empower the Game Creators to focus on their games and communities by introducing them to Microsoft products and services to help build and operate their games, studios, and business.

Responsibilities

  • Be a connector. You will establish, develop, and maintain a network of business relationships across current China-based partners across the globe, new partners, competitors, investors, and thought leaders. You will leverage these relationships to gather industry signals, opportunity identification, and drive transaction execution.
  • Role Model a Growth Mindset. As Team Xbox strives to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone on the planet and our Gaming Ecosystem Commercial team empowers game creators to realize their dreams, the remit and roles of the team has expanded beyond the console to PC, xCloud, Game Pass, Mobile and the Cloud. You will champion the China partner Gaming strategy and work closely with fellow China partnership team members to evangelize and execute the strategy with our partners.
  • Accelerate business for our partners and Microsoft. You will lead by example by listening to and understanding the needs of your partners and craft a strategy that delivers win-win solutions for the partner and for Microsoft Gaming. You will build internal partnerships both globally and regionally with Developer Relations, Business Development, Partner Production Management, Game Pass, Marketing, Finance, and Legal teams to bring together and evolve the long-term partnership strategies with our partners to ensure it is relevant, executable, and sustainable.
  • Be an Intrapreneur. Identify, evaluate, and champion new, inorganic growth opportunities in support of the broader Gaming and partner strategy. This includes developing the business case with the strategy team including the strategic rationale and economics, and as necessary, with the engineering team to understand the costs to make a go/no-go recommendation and prioritize the opportunity. Where the opportunity requires a partnership with a Game Creator, you will partner with the Business Development team to creatively structure deal terms, develop a negotiation strategy and help drive negotiations. With the BDM team, you will communicate with all stakeholders at all stages of the deal process to secure buy-in and approvals.
  • Be partner feedback and data driven. You will collect partner feedback, data, and external trends to inform strategy and decision making. You will monitor progress against the strategy and investment areas to enable business success. You will synthesize partner feedback and industry signals/deal trends to influence Gaming product priorities, business models and deal structures.
  • Drive execution excellence. You will create strategic growth plans, compelling business cases and partner pitches, providing actionable reporting, meeting deadlines and expectations of internal teams and partners, and growing the partners business. Maintain ongoing relationships with partners to ensure compliance and commitments are fulfilled.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 5+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a consumer, tech and/or interactive media & entertainment business in partner management, business development, and/or content publishing/launch operations.
  • 5+ years of experience leading, influencing and driving results at all levels (from executives to individual contributors) and all functions (such as engineering, marketing, sales, services, finance and legal) in a technical business environment.
  • Business level fluency to read, write and speak Chinese and/or Mandarin.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within the video game industry.
  • Possesses a network of relationships with partners, potential partners, competitors to aid in opportunity identification.
  • Experience in developing long-term, Strategic Partnership growth plans and executing against those plans.
  • Experience working with global teams across time zones and geographies.
  • Driving teamwork and cross-team alignment.
  • Partner relationship management and solution development skills.
  • Executive presence including communication and presentation skills.
  • Problem solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources, conflict resolution, and follow through with partners.
  • Ability to travel globally to visit partners and teams up to 25% of the time.
  • Playing video games, of any type.

Business Development IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.
