The Steward at Dallas Culinary Company plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of events by managing inventory and overseeing the availability and condition of all necessary equipment. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and collaborating closely with a team of Executive Chefs, the Steward is responsible for maintaining a well-organized and efficient system for inventory control.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all inventory items, including kitchen utensils, cookware, serving dishes, and other event-related equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and anticipate needs for upcoming events.
- Coordinate with procurement team to order supplies as needed, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
Equipment Management:
- Ensure all necessary equipment is available and in good condition for each event.
- Oversee the signing out of equipment to appropriate staff members for each event.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify any damage or maintenance needs.
- Coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
- Develop and implement systems for tracking equipment usage and ensuring timely return.
Maintenance and Organization:
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored after each use.
- Establish and maintain an organized system for storing equipment in designated areas.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and proper organization.
- Implement best practices for equipment maintenance to prolong lifespan and minimize downtime.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Director of Sales and Executive Chefs to understand event requirements and anticipate equipment needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of equipment logistics for events.
- Communicate effectively with staff members regarding equipment protocols and procedures.
Growth and Development:
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in inventory and equipment management.
- Adapt to evolving needs and responsibilities as the company grows, taking on additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in inventory management, preferably in a culinary or hospitality setting.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for event coverage.
