Description
Kona Kai San Diego Resort is a boutique urban resort located on Shelter Island. With 170 guestrooms, Kona Kai Resort is home to Vessel Restaurant + Bar, SpaTerre, a marina and a private club, all located just minutes from downtown San Diego. We are excited to welcome a new Steward to our island-inspired resort.
As a Steward you are the backbone of the kitchen. You clean and sanitize all china, glassware, silverware, flatware, pots and pans in the hotel and restock the restaurants, kitchen and employee dining room. You also maintain storage areas. We couldn't be our best without you!

Reports to: Executive Chef and Sous Chef
Primary hours are PM shift
Requirements
To be successful in the Steward position, you do NOT need prior experience. Rather you:
•Strive for ultimate cleanliness and organization for all service periods
•Work closely with fellow dishwashers, cooks and the Chef to be prepared to execute all service periods
•Ability to follow standards and cleaning duties with attention to detail
•Making sure the kitchen is a safe, hygienic & organized place to work
•Effective time management and flexibility as it relates business levels
•Notify the Chef of any deficiencies regarding supplies for station
•Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other departments, guests, and vendors.
•Ability to deal with difficult situations and people while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
•Efficiency in organization and knowledge of machine and hand washing practices
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
•3 or more years of experience in a similar size operation or larger
•Thorough knowledge of food and beverage industry, current market trends, and federal, state and local laws pertaining to the hospitality industry (e.g. OSHA, County Regulations, Department of Health regulations, etc.).
•Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
•Flexible schedule
•Servsafe certification required prior to hire and TIPs Certification
