PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Supervisor for a Full Time, 0.9 FTE, Day position (1240). The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $29.48 - $44.22. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees daily workflow to ensure service standards are met and to ensure staff consistently follows standard job expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates work assignments and oversees monthly schedule.
  • Serves as a resource to staff for issues surrounding instrumentation and sterilization.
  • Participates in the hiring selection process.
  • Collaborates with management to develop and implement policies, procedures and the business work plans for the department.
  • Provides leadership and supervisory guidance in quality improvement efforts. May be asked to lead quality initiatives.
  • Maintains and reports required regulatory records and quality assurance reports.
  • Participates in the staff evaluation and disciplinary processes.
  • Collaborates effectively with the Instrument Coordinator to assure seamless flow of surgical supplies and instruments.
  • Reports to the Director of Surgical Services
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma Preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience required in Sterile Processing
  • Required: Knowledge of Sterile Processing and regulatory requirements
  • Required: Experience with Neuro, Ortho, and General Surgical instrumentation 
  • Preferred: Previous leadership/supervisory experience

Credentials

  • Required: Certified Registered Central Service Technician through IAHCSMM or  Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician

Skills

  • Proficient use of computers including MS Office applications (Required)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. (Required)
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and problem solving skills. (Required)
  • Understands facility standards and practice guidelines as well as state and federal regulations. (Required)
  • Ability to lead teams and delegate assignments. (Required)
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions. (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.

Environmental Conditions

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.

Mental/Visual

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
