The engineering and innovation director provides instruction and direction in spiritual, academic, social, and physical skills by performing the following duties. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and competency satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Teaching

• Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; models a consistent, daily walk with Jesus Christ in attitude, speech, and actions.
• Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
• Motivates students to accept God's gift of salvation and grow in their faith.
• In an eight-period schedule, teaches six class periods (given two prep periods) plus advisory.
• Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements/standards of state and school and submits weekly to principal.
• Review and align curriculum with the school's overall mission.
• Lectures, demonstrates, and uses audiovisual technology teaching aids to present subject matter to class.
• Prepares, administers, and corrects tests, and records results.
• Assigns lessons, homework, corrects papers, and hears oral presentations.
• Teaches rules of conduct
• Maintains order in classroom and in auxiliary spaces on campus as well as off-site school sponsored activities.
• Counsels students when academic and/or behavioral problems arise.
• Discusses students' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
• Keeps attendance and grade records as required by school.
• Completes non-standard information requests for ISP Students (upper school only).
• Coordinates class field trips.

Facility Management

• Supervise preparation, use, daily maintenance and security of engineering and innovation (EI) facilities, equipment, components and supplies.
• Develop and supervise safety and security protocols and general use policies of EI facility, equipment, components and supplies.
• Evaluate and supervise equipment and component maintenance and repairs.
• Evaluate needs and make recommendations on the acquisition of new equipment and components.
• Coordinate major facility maintenance with cooperation of the physical plant manager.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, components and supplies.
• Order replacement components and supplies as necessary.

Budget

• Work with upper school administration to establish annual budget.

Development

• Communicate EI growth and accomplishments associated with application of EI Endowment or restricted gift monies to ACS donors.
• Provide hospitality and participate as needed with additional development initiatives, both EI and non-EI focused.

Public Relations

• Participate in events that bring recognition to MCA and EI

Miscellaneous Duties

• Responsible for extra-curricular activities, FLL, FTC, FRC, Robotics and Engineering Club, Inventors Club, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has supervisory responsibilities over students, student interns, paraprofessionals, extra-curricular coaches, and volunteers.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. Working toward a master's degree within the next five years.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, students, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to manage a gradebook.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of gradebook and assignment software, Internet software; spreadsheet software, collaboration software; and word processing software, as well as any software appropriate to the content area.
