POSITION: Custodian (School Year - 200 days)
LOCATION: White Pine Middle School
SCHEDULE: Second Shift - Monday thru Friday - 8 Hours Daily (3:00pm - 11:30pm)
AVAILABLE: Immediately
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent, required
- Punctual with good attendance record
- In-Person attendance required
- Ability to read and follow written and oral directions
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks
- Ability to relate to, communicate, and cooperate with staff, students, and the general public
- General knowledge of cleaning, repairing, and maintaining tile and carpeted floors
- Knowledge and ability to clean and sanitize bathrooms
- Assist, as needed, with grounds keeping and snow removal
- Capable of climbing an eight (8) foot ladder
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25-35 pounds (repeated lifting)
- Strong desire to be a part of a fast-paced team
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and maintain assigned areas of the building, including, but not limited to:
- vacuum, spot treat, and extract carpeted areas
- clean and sanitize bathrooms and locker rooms
- maintain paper towel, toilet paper and soap dispensers
- empty pencil sharpeners and clean white board trays
- empty waste baskets; clean and sanitize waste receptacles
- maintain tile and rubber floor surfaces
- clean and sanitize drinking fountains
- dust parallel surfaces
- Assist with unloading and storing of deliveries
- Ability to use cleaning products safely, efficiently and correctly
- Ability to use and maintain equipment and tools properly
- Assist, as needed, with grounds keeping and stadium clean up
- Clean windows, window ledges, and drinking fountains
- Dust shelves, desks, chairs, filing cabinets, lockers, etc.
- Remove graffiti from lockers, walls, bathroom walls and partitions, etc.
- Replace burned-out light bulbs
- Assist with special function set-up, tear-down and clean up (repeated lifting and moving of chairs, tables, etc)
- School-related events
- Athletic events
- Assist with general cleaning of entire building during school vacation periods or at other times set up by supervisor
- Other duties which may be assigned by a supervisor
COMPENSATION:
In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Local 517M, Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO and the school district. The hourly wage range is $12.30 - $14.04 based on experience (+ 3% night shift differential); medical, dental and vision benefits available (Employees new to the district pay 10.0% of cost). Position covered by state school employee retirement plan (Public School Employees Retirement System).
Pursuant to Public Act 68 of 1993 and Public Act 83 of 1995, selected new employees shall submit to fingerprints and a criminal background check at the employee's expense.
