Afterschool Tutor:
Assist with the implementation of the literacy block
Assist with the implementation of the literacy block
- Work with Literacy Coordinator to plan or follow the plan of appropriate activities according to various reading levels of the children
- Participate in either guided independent reading practice time, or daily read-aloud and fluency-building activities during the after school and summer programs
- Attend at least one training concerning best practices in guided independent reading practice time, daily read-aloud and fluency-building activities
- If applicable, attend at least one training concerning best practices in the implementation of the Emergent Reader Literacy Block
- Communicate regularly with the Literacy CoordinatorAssist in the implementation of Accelerated Reader, if applicable
- Assist with organizing the AR library, if appropriate
- Incorporate one hour of planning time into weekly schedule to prepare for programming
- If assisting with guided independent reading practice, incorporate one to two hours into weekly go over AR Diagnostic reports with the Literacy Coordinator
- Address individual children's needs with Literacy Coordinator to implement a possible solution
- Assist in administering pre and post STAR Reading test (if your school/program doesn't otherwise do so) for every child in Save the Children in-school and after school programs
- Assist in 21st Century data entry
