- Operate and maintain all equipment in the Energy plant; including, but not limited to: boilers, chilled, and auxiliary water (according to procedures specified by ASME code, NYC Department Buildings, and NYC Fire Department regulations upon which licensure is predicted).
- Maintain, including cleaning and repair, all systems necessary to the production and distribution of steam condensate reclamation, chilled water, and condenser water supply in the Energy Plan.
- Make rounds in the Energy Plant and documents his/her findings. Keep current logs and records.
- Perform chemical testing of boiler and chilled water systems and makes appropriate adjustments.
- Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor.
- May be required to assist or perform general maintenance tasks related to other departmental shops or tasks necessary to maintain normal, consistent operation of equipment and spaces coming under the jurisdiction of the Department.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in maintenance and repair of steam boilers and equipment ancillary to them for the production, delivery, and consumption of steam and hot water, and condensate reclamation.
- Ability to read blueprints helpful.
- New York City Stationary Engineer’s License required.
- New York City Certificate of Qualification for unlimited tonnage refrigeration system required.
- New York City DEP Certificate of instruction for residual fuel, oil, and incinerator required.
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
