Introduction to the team
Within TSG, the State & Local Tax team helps clients compete and succeed by staying up-to-date on the ever-changing, complex State and Local Tax rules. These business advisors specialize in solutions that span income tax, indirect tax, property tax, and tax controversy matters. - Work as a firm-wide resource as part of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated M&A
- Oversee timely advice, reporting, communication and delivery of SALT M&A due diligence and
taxes, gross receipts, excise, sales/use and other similar taxes, employment taxes, property
taxes, and unclaimed property
- Identify and analyze tax risks and opportunities while advising on SALT matters related to
- Assist with the review and analysis of purchase agreements, merger agreements and opinion
- Act as an additional resource within SALT practice to develop and oversee income/franchise tax
for SALT services
- Develop and train staff and manager-level team members and provide effective leadership as a
- Leverage technical knowledge and experience to provide effective project management;
- Assists with proposals and business development, including marketing materials and web-based
- Participate and lead in business development and growth in SALT and Tax Specialty Services
- Writes and/or co-authors State and Local Tax articles for publication
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; emphasis in accounting, finance or related field preferred; Master’s
- CPA, bar membership or equivalent credential required. If not certified, must meet educational
- Minimum of 4 years of related tax experience required; public accounting experience preferred
- Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on State and Local
problem solver
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter and have previous experience handling multiple
- Experience with multi-state income, sales/use, gross receipts, property, employment or other
- Experience providing leadership and management over professional staff
- Prior success in leading key business development, project delivery and practice development
- Demonstrate success to the firm around practice development, providing thought leadership
market facing activities, such as industry presentations, webcasts, professional networking
events, etc.
- Experience in serving mid-market clients preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to travel as needed, up to approximately 20%
