About Us


Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. MGA has five campuses-Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins, all located in central Georgia-and global outreach through its fully-online campus. Its enrollment of 8,000 students is largely comprised of students from most of Georgia's 159 counties. Job Summary


This position is responsible for training senior students and administering stage exams.

Responsibilities


Flight Duties (80%) -
Administers Stage Checks according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations; accompanies students on flights and evaluates their skills.
Conducts flight training.
Conducts ground training.
Administration (10%) -
Flies ferry, maintenance and discovery flights as needed to ensure the proper maintenance of aircraft.
Flies aircraft to recruiting events; assists in the recruitment of students.
Hosts facilities tours.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Supervision (10%) -
Supervises during weekends and evening flight blocks.
Ensures compliance with safety policies, Standard Operating Procedures and FAA Regulation.

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Other Required Qualifications
Possession of or ability to readily obtain the following FAA approved certifications: Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and preferably Multi-Engine Instructor.
Required Experience
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles of aircraft flight operations.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards and requirements.
  • Knowledge of classroom and field training practices, teaching methodologies, assessment systems, and educational technology.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill to make timely decisions.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
