Summary: Vivint is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 10+ years of experience to be a critical member of our Hardware Engineering development team. As part of this team, you will be responsible for the hardware architecture, detailed electronic design, and engineering validation of Vivint's wide range of video products.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead Electrical Hardware Engineer responsible for the electrical design ownership of at least one new Vivint product and continued sustaining of several others.
  • Create legible schematics and documentation that are easily understandable by and contain all necessary information to manufacture electronic designs.
  • Create repeatable test procedures for full validation of all aspects of electronic designs. Perform these test procedures and fully document circuit performance. Identify and correct aspects of the design that need optimization.
  • Collaborate with other EEs daily to review designs and identify and potential issues/improvements. Provide respectful feedback and have an open mind and willingness to learn from others.
  • Be a proactive member of a product development team with mechanical engineers, software engineers, industrial designers, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, product managers, and program managers that works together to take a product from concept to market on time and within budget.
  • Review and provide meaning and respectful feedback of coworkers designs and documentation.

Required Skills, Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor of Science EE degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience designing and sustaining complex electronic products.
  • Schematic & PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  • Positive track record developing and sustaining successful products that launch on time and within budget.
  • Experience with RF/wireless design and be able to design high-speed circuits with good EMI and signal integrity.
  • Knowledge of how to properly use typical electronic bench equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DC loads, etc.) and be able to replace/rework QFNs and 0201 components.
  • Ability for periodic domestic and international travel.
  • Be a respectful team player with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with foreign partners in occasional nightly meetings (typically 7-10pm 2-3 hours per week)
  • Open minded and positive attitude with a passion for continual learning of new ideas/methods and unlearning of outdated design technics.
  • Experience designing ARM A-series processor systems involving LPDDR4, eMMC, and sequenced PMICs.

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education:
  • Master of Science EE degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant.
  • RF design using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Z-wave, DECT, LTE, 802.15.4, or other similar IOT radios.
  • IPC CID+ certification.
  • Schematic & PCB layout using OrCAD, Allegro, and/or Pads.
  • Experience with Hyperlynx, Ansys, ADS or other high-speed signal analysis tool.
  • High volume consumer electronics design/manufacturing support.
  • Embedded Linux software development.
  • RTOS and/or bare metal programming of microcontrollers in C.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
